No. 2, 2018

Dear {{First}},

Hard to believe that it’s November already! 2018 has been a busy year for Kathy and myself with The Iberian Flame out in June and A Sea of Gold just published. And I’m delighted to announce that I have signed a new contract with Hodder and Stoughton, my publisher, for another four titles in the Kydd Series. The first of these, To the Eastern Seas, will be launched next year. I’m thrilled with the stunning cover which I’ve revealed at the end of this Bulletin.

There will be a Collectors Set for this book, details of which will be announced later. (Priority for subscription is given to Kydd Club members and the release is strictly limited to 500 Sets.)

You can register your interest in all future Collectors Sets by placing a standing order – just email me with your postal details and ‘Sign Me Up’ in the subject line.

A Sea of Gold

A Sea of Gold, book 21 in the Kydd series, has just been published in hardback, ebook and audiobook in the UK. The ebook and audio download is available worldwide now, with the hardback following in a few months.
Already, reader plaudits are flowing in, among them this one –

‘What a fantastic book have you given us with A Sea of Gold! Highest tension from the first through the last line and the whole range of topics from family affairs, deep sea sailing, complex and hot naval actions, insights into the Britsh war economy, the city of London, the Lloyds insurance system, and the European high finance, fighting with no holds barred.

Moreover, all known characters of Kydd’s family and circle of close friends involved show once more their individual personalities, which you have developed in the previous volumes. Here especially Nicholas Renzi proves oneself once more as a great friend and the logical land-based counterpart of the fighting captain Thomas Kydd.
Your approach to the highly complex figure of Thomas Cochrane is absolutely impressive and convincing.

I started to read the book immediately after its arrival here, but from chapter 34 onwards I was just unable to put it down and read it through until the last line of the once more very fine recapitulating author’s note.’

Spread the Word

Word of mouth is very important to authors these days and I’d be honoured if you felt minded to place a short review of any of my Kydd titles, or historical standalones, The Silk Tree and The Powder of Death, on Amazon or other social media. Do let me know if you’ve posted a review! You can email me at or message me on my Facebook page.
